        <p><span>Kuala Lumpur might be a feast for the senses, but for the lower and upper back, it&rsquo;s a bit of a nightmare. Such was the case for me anyway, after roaming around the metropolis for everyday task that saw me clocking upwards of at least 20 km a day on foot. Factor in multiple events, a hot and humid climate and boots that were not made for walking, my body was aching.</span></p>
        <p><span>The remedy was an afternoon spent at Urban Retreat Onsen Spa, otherwise known as &ldquo;heaven on earth&rdquo;. Located on the upper levels of 163 Retail Park, Mont Kiara, it is a warm, dimly-lit space, and a reported favourite of wellness monarch local beauty guru (if you know you know). The name Urban Retreat Onsen Spa is the perfect manifestation of all that it is: luxurious, uncomplicated and still. It&rsquo;s not trying hard, but rather perfectly grounded in serenity in the middle of a vibrant neighbourhood. There, you will find a wide selection of massages and relaxing rituals alongside its most sought- after onsen bath.</span></p>

        <p><span>My refuge into self-pampering began with a dip into a 40oC bath soaked with bath salts prized for their rejuvenating powers. Then it was pure magic &mdash; the heated water melted away tension while the cold mineral water, thoughtfully placed at the edge of Japan&rsquo;s Hinoki wood tub, kept me hydrated. 45 minutes later &mdash; long enough to feel rested, not restless &mdash; my skin was soft and glowing, and I was escorted to the VIP lounge to restore my body to its balanced temperature before moving into another room for the spa&rsquo;s signature aromatheraphy massage. The 60-minute full body massage session is designed to de-stress, unblock stagnant&nbsp;</span><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">energy, and release tightly bound muscles to reduce tension and enhance blood circulation. According to the spa expert, this specialised aromatheraphy massage is also the perfect choice for those who have trouble getting a good slumber, as the usage of calming essential oils helps in relaxing their bodies and minds, which leads to deeper sleep and reduced fatigue. Expect a mix of long, languid strokes and a firm hand on tight muscles around your neck, shoulders, upper and lower back, and even your face. It was intuitive; my masseur knew where I needed a little extra manipulation. It was the kind of pain that was almost blissful; like I could physically feel knots unfurling. Coupled with organic oils, it was bliss. I stepped out an inch taller and my shoulders a few centimetres lower &mdash; no kidding the result was visible. But that wasn&rsquo;t all, I made time for some ginger tea and sweet roll before stepping out into the all world shiny and new again.</span></p>
