For its Fall/Winter showcase, the Chinese menswear brand transformed a waterfront into a feverish fashion dream.<o:p></o:p>

September&rsquo;s sun blazed like high summer as an ancient port on the Fujian coast became the unlikely epicentre of Chinese menswear. Once a vital node on the Maritime Silk Road, the Xiangzhi fishing harbour in Shishi set the stage for CABBEEN&rsquo;s 2025/26 Fall/Winter show, transforming a working waterfront into a scene straight from a feverish fashion dream.
Known for its edgy streetwear codes and effortless East-meets-West vocabulary, CABBEEN has long been a benchmark for contemporary Chinese menswear. This season, as the opener ofQuanzhou Fashion Week, it raised the stakes.

A 150-metre runway stretched across the water, models seeming to emerge from the sea itself, framed by red-brick houses, bobbing fishing boats and a lone lighthouse. The sea became the stage, the sky its backdrop; the harbour, a living mood board.
&ldquo;My hometown speaks through this collection,&rdquo; said founder and designer Yang Ziming &mdash; better known as Mr Cabbeen &mdash; in a nod to his Shishi roots. &ldquo;Every outdoor show carries challenges, but it also offers an irreplaceable natural allure &mdash; the sunset, the sea breeze, the shimmer of the water. These are atmospheres no indoor stage can replicate,&rdquo; he told China Daily.

Yang has built his reputation not only on razor-sharp menswear but also on a philosophy that connects innovation and authenticity to locality. Born in Shishi, he founded CABBEEN in 1997; today the brand encompasses several lines including CABBEEN Chic and 2AM and counts more than 650 stores across China.

This season&rsquo;s theme, Across Mountains and Seas, Born with the Tide explored the meeting point of heritage and modernity. Under the direction of Xiao Xiangrong, music and performance elements elevated the harbour to a stage of culture as much as fashion. Lighting designers layered warm and cool tones to echo the depth of the sea, while the setting sun fused with digital effects to create an unforgettable glow. The result felt less like a runway and more like an immersive tableau &mdash; history and future woven together in salt air.

The show drew a constellation of Chinese stars such as Myolie Wu, Bi WenJun, Jacky Heung, Alex To, Jerry Lamb, Edmond Leung and Daniel Chan.

For media guests &mdash; among them L&rsquo;Officiel Malaysia &mdash; it was an immersion in the brand&rsquo;s DNA. Flown in from Kuala Lumpur by CABBEEN Malaysia, the press also toured the brand&rsquo;s stores in Xiamen and its Shishi factory, tracing the journey from design sketch to finished garment and seeing first-hand the craftsmanship at its core.
Back in Malaysia, CABBEEN has been steadily building its own footprint. Following a successful debut at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, the brand opened its second physical store at Sunway Velocity Mall in August. And the plans don&rsquo;t stop there. CABBEEN Malaysia has announced an ambitious Southeast Asia expansion, with at least nine stores scheduled to open across the country over the next two years.
It&rsquo;s a vision that mirrors Yang&rsquo;s own trajectory &mdash; rooted in Shishi, propelled across continents. As the tide rose and the models walked on water, CABBEEN&rsquo;s latest show was a statement: that Chinese fashion can honour its ports of origin while charting new courses far beyond them.
