Things are about to get even more exciting at UNIQLO.

The UNIQLO family just scored a heavyweight addition. American artist and designer KAWS has been named the brand&rsquo;s very first Artist in Residence, a move that signals a fresh chapter for UNIQLO&rsquo;s &ldquo;Art For All&rdquo; philosophy. In this new role, t<a href="https://www.hommesmalaysia.com/personalities/malaysia-day-special-ilham-is-here-to-inspire">he globally celebrated artist</a> will curate art-driven experiences inside UNIQLO stores around the world, collaborate with museum partners, and help shape the future of LifeWear. His debut collection under the residency is already locked in for Autumn/Winter 2025. &ldquo;I am thrilled to be taking this next step with my longtime partner UNIQLO,&rdquo; KAWS says, adding that the residency will allow him to tap deeper into the art community and connect with a new wave of global creatives. &ldquo;I am looking forward to working on exciting new kinds of LifeWear.&rdquo;

&ldquo;In our ever-evolving world, art is more important than ever as an expression of our humanity,&rdquo; says John C Jay, President of Global Creative at Past Retailing. &ldquo;KAWS has been breaking traditional boundaries in the art world, just as UNIQLO has worked to redefine the apparel industry through LifeWear.&rdquo; He adds that the artist&rsquo;s creative audacity and credibility have <a href="https://www.hommesmalaysia.com/arts-culture-and-lifestyle/the-banana-that-ate-the-art-world">the power to broaden global appreciation</a> and participation in art and creativity. The newly created Artist in Residence role is not just ceremonial. KAWS will be introducing collaborators, pitching creative concepts, and pushing the boundaries of what LifeWear can be. It is the next chapter in a partnership that began in 2016, one that has already produced some of UNIQLO&rsquo;s most successful collaborations to date.
