Unlike many of the other major players in the fashion industry, Dior has been content to stay out of the spotlight when it comes to watchmaking. So, it’s understandable if you were unaware that 20 years ago, in 2004, the house debuted the first Chiffre Rouge model, signifying the brand’s foray into automatic watches and marking what would become the house’s horological journey. In 2015, Dior released new iterations of the Chiffre Rouge watch, and to celebrate its 20th anniversary, it is re-releasing eight different models of the watch throughout this year.

While the original was sleek and emblazoned with asymmetrical sensual charm, the new Chiffre Rouge collection spots a unique, cult-like appeal, showcasing an array of the most recognisable features from Dior's collection selected for their refined couture style. With its architectural asymmetry, the case has a slightly enlarged and tapered side along with a hypnotic waltz of a red crown and matching second hand. In addition, the vibrant hue can also be spotted encircling the date display at 4 o’clock. Stunning and intricate, these 38 mm and 41 mm watches feature micro-textured cannage lines that accentuate the dial and oscillating weight.

A compelling use of transparency makes the automatic mechanism visible on the back of the watches. Equipped with a variety of calibres, from chronograph to tourbillon, there is a model to satisfy every preference. They also have detachable straps that may be swapped out for alternative styles, be it leather or rubber, with macro and micro cannage.
